LACMA: Fashioning Fashion

I got the pleasure of going to the press preview of the new LACMA Resnick Pavilion.
I viewed the most amazing collection.
And personally interviewed the curators.
Life is good.
 Classic robe à la française.
 Metallic thread detail
 Floral corset with boning
Amazing detail of a purple velvet Victorian dress.
What I wore to the event
Chanel pearls and bag, Dolce & Gabanna pumps, indiecollective wrap skirt
Krista in a fur capelet/vest from indiecollective, skirt I got her at Goodwill
 YSL tributes bien sûr
 YSL bag
 The gorgeous terrace.
Favorite item: pair of "Fetish" boots lined in red from 1900
Along with a leather bustier from England
The most beautiful silk corset I have ever seen.
 A French panier fully intact!
The most unique piece: men's vest from the French revolution with mottos and symbols embroidered.
THIS EXHIBIT IS AMAZING!
On October 2-3 its free! Reserve tickets at lacma.org
Its a must see. It took my breath away.

Here's a link to my review of the collection including interviews with the curators!

  1. Thank you so much for posting these photos. I can't go to LA and our local costume group has been discussing the show. The "fetish boots" have been mentioned as a favorite and I wanted to see them. Nice blog, great photos, thanks again.
