suicidal inspiration

LUX LISBON
Jeffrey Eugenides's Virgin Suicides as seen through the lens of Sofia Coppola is so hauntingly beautiful for numerous reasons. But no one can deny the specific power of Lux. In her clothing, in her mannerisms, in her speech, in her essence. So, trying to capture that is a challenge one might never grasp, but channeling her undeniable style is a good start.

some stylish men i know

Bertrand's combination of color oddly works here, i dig the neutral t-shirt, jeans, and Nike's, with the bright blue leather bomber. of course, the hair makes the look.
pulling off a necklace is very hard to do as a guy, but Peter's laid back collegiate ensemble calls for one.
and for some reason, he can totally pull off Krista's fur trapper hat.
Tom knows how to mix colors and labels. He is wearing a vintage scarf, vintage leather bomber, Hanes t-shirt, Abercrombie belt, American Apparel salmon pants, and Ray Bans on his head
oh yeah, and his Prada driving moccasins totally work here.

Erby can never go wrong with Nike's
Corey's t-shirt has a kind of 80s freshness to it, don't you think?

mcqueen's ability to turn women into art

its hard for me to even look at McQueen's last collection, its too beautiful
outlandish and yet, so utterly wearable and flattering

so regal
juxtaposition of two distant pasts, the art of the middle ages and renaissance, mixed with the ancient sea creature headdress. this piece is so perfectly balanced with the one long sleeve and the glove.
the detail in the sleeves, embroidery, and the bottom of the boots
a woman as an ornate column
All of the former pieces were breath taking, but this gold feathered coat with massive tulle and chiffon underskirt peeking out was too much to handle. McQueen outdid himself with this ensemble. His craftsmanship is unmatched. I actually cried when I saw this collection for the first time. The fashion world truly lost an innovative genius.
R.I.P. Lee Alexander McQueen; you are terribly missed.
